Press Repeat is a comment on the shift in society that the digital age has imposed.
The analogue was laborsome; earlier, a process that is now simplified to the click on a button took place in real time; and a gesture, such as making a mixed tape had a much higher value than sharing a video URL with someone from YouTube. In addition the past tape technology was reliant on human accuracy.
In Press Repeat I wish to remember all the rituals connected to making and receiving a mixed tape; a nostalgic, humorous and thoughtful insight. The task is not to compare but to emphasize differences by execution.
The two channel sound installation is constructed of two tape recorders. Each has its voice; they are in dialogue. Nevertheless, when both tapes are set into motion at the same time, the further the tapes roles the more distorted the dialogue becomes; leaving gaps of blank, talking both at once, allowing the listeners to be bewildered of its content.
